Real Madrid: Bale, Hazard left out of Copa squad for Sociedad
Dani Carvajal, Casemiro and Lucas Vázquez also miss out as Zinedine Zidane calls up Isco, James Rodríguez and Brahim for the Copa del Rey quarter-final.
Zinedine Zidane has announced his squad for the Copa del Rey quarter-final against Real Sociedad and has omitted Gareth Bale and Eden Hazard despite both players having trained with the Real Madrid squad this week.
Zidane has named 19 players for the game against the Basque side, with call-ups for Brahim Díaz, Isco, James Rodríguez and Luka Jovic, who may well get a start as the Frenchman seeks to hand Karim Benzema a rest.
Also included are Brazilian teenagers Vinicius and Rodrygo, while Dani Carvajal, Casemiro and Lucas Vázquez are all out after missing training this week.
Bale has been left out of the squad for the fourth successive time despite being fit after picking up a knock to his ankle against Unionistas in the round of 32 while Hazard is also available again after a lengthy lay off with an ankle injury.
