Barcelona are on the hunt for a striker to replace Luis Suárez, who is currently in the midst of a long-term injury layoff following knee surgery in January.

While the January transfer market is now closed, Barcelona could be eligible to sign a player due to the injury of Ousmane Dembélé, who will undergo surgery on Tuesday and will subsequently miss up to five months. The medical committee of the Spanish Football Federation will have the last word on whether to accept or reject the club's request.

And according to journalist Santi Ovalle of Spanish radio program El Larguero, the Catalan club have their eye on another Luis Suárez as a replacement for their Uruguayan forward of the same namesake.

Luis Suárez of Zaragoza

A 22-year-old striker playing for Zaragoza in Spain’s second division, Suárez has 14 goals from 24 games this season, which sees Los Maños fighting for promotion to La Primera. They currently sit third in the table, six points behind leaders Cádiz but with a game in hand.

According to the El Larguero report, the player's camp has confirmed that Barcelona have made contact, though they have explained that the operation will be complicated due to the fact that Suarez is already on loan at Zaragoza from Premier League club, Watford.

Another name that has been linked with Camp Nou this week is Alavés striker, Lucas Pérez, while Girona’s Uruguayan forward, Cristhian Stuani, now appears to have been ruled out.
