Two weeks ago FC Juarez surprised America at the Aztec stadium and scored three goals on Guillermo Ochoa so for the sixth week of the semester they didn’t want another surprise when they hosted Atlas on Saturday night.

This was the second game for Rafael Puente as Atlas manager and he was looking to get his first victory after suffering a loss in his debut last weekend.

Atlas started the game better, putting pressure all of America’s players and in the 12th minute German Canti made an incredible header that ended up in goal. Unfortunately for the visiting team, VAR checked the play and they noticed that Canti had shoved Bruno Valdez and the goal was annulled.

Later on in the 26th minute Atlas had a chance to score when Jeremy Marquez had a shot on goal but Ochoa made an incredible save to keep the game scoreless.

Three minutes, later, Federico Viñas, who this week returned from the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament duty with Uruguay, opened the scoring, connecting with a Leonardo Suarez free kick to open the scoring.

The second half started very slow and it wasn’t until the 75th minute that game one again livened up when Sebastian Cordova took a shot on goal that ended up hitting the post.

Five minutes later Cordova made another fantastic play on the right side of the field and crossed the ball for Viñas, who scored the second and final goal of the game. Atlas tried to react but the offense didn’t connect and the game ended 2-0.

Next week America will visit Monterrey which will be the first time too sides will meet since last year's final. Meanwhile, Atlas can’t seem to find their path under Rafael Puente and they will try to get their first win with the new manager when they host Pachuca on Friday night.
