Three Qatar World Cup stadia closing in on completion
World Cup 2022 organisation body, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy confirm that Al-Rayyan, Al-Bayt and Education City are in the final phase of preparation.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (the entity responsible for overseeing all construction and infrastructure projects for the 2022 FIFA World Cup) have published newly taken photos of three Qatar 2022 World Cup stadiums: Al-Rayyan, Al-Bayt and Education City which show considerable advances compared to similar images captured twelve months ago.

Hassan Al-Thawady, general secretary of the Supreme Committee confirmed that all three stadia (Al-Rayyan, Al-Bayt and Education City) will be inaugurated this year and the only outstanding detail is to confirm a suitable date to coincide with a major event in the country, as was the case with the opening of the Al-Khalifa International Stadium (the first of the World Cup venues to be ready) where it hosed the 2017 Emir of Qatar cup final, where Al-Saad overcame Al-Rayyan and last year was the venue for the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships.

With the anticipated opening of Al-Rayyan, Al-Bayt and Education City stadiums during 2020, only three grounds are still undergoing construction process with Al-Thumama, Ras Abou Aboud and Lusail expected to be operational in 2021, a year ahead of the opening game at the 2022 Qatar World Cup which kicks-off on November 21st, 2022.
