Four Valencia fans who attended the Champions League last 16 first leg match against Atalanta in Milan last week are being tested for the coronavirus after displaying symptoms of the disease after returning to Spain, the regional government’s sub-director general of Epidemiology, Hermelinda Vanaclocha, confirmed in a press conference on Tuesday.

The four Valencia fans, following regional government health advice about the outbreak and that of the club, reported to their GPs after showing symptoms of the virus, now designated Covid-19. Vanaclocha told the press conference that her department had recommended the four fans remain in isolation at home as a precaution. “The first thing we are going to do it talk to them and carry out an Epidemiological study to ascertain how long they were in Milan, when the symptoms first presented and what they are and from there we will determine whether or not they need to undergo further testing.”

It has not yet been confirmed that the four fans have contracted Covid-19 and the tests will determine if the symptoms they have reported are simply influenza or a similar seasonal illness. Vanaclocha said the health of the four was “good” and that advice for the rest of the 2,500 Valencia fans who travelled to the game had been issued.
