Barcelona's new plan to protect Messi

The Barcelona-based press claim that the LaLiga champions are looking to bring in a number of players to create a more conducive environment for Leo Messi.

After Barcelona’s bitter defeat to Real Madrid in Sunday’s Clásico at the Bernabéu, the Catalan press has naturally turned its attention to the topic of new signings as part of a Camp Nou rebuild.

Sport, this Tuesday, have run with the front page headline, "SOS Messi" and argued that the Argentine captain is "more alone than ever".

The Catalan daily reports that El Blaugrana is looking to bring in players that can create a more conducive environment for the club’s 32-year-old talisman, specifically citing a central defender, a central midfielder and centre forward.

In the case of the latter, the club’s favoured option is Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez, for whom Barça could offer cash two plus two players this summer, Sport claims.

Barcelona also eyeing Ferran Torres

Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, which has dedicated its main front page story to the global impact of the Coronavirus, reports hat Barça remain attentive to the situation of Valencia winger Ferran Torres, who has yet to renew his contract at Mestalla. The 20-year-old’s current deal ends in June, 2021.
