The Ligue 1 club issued a statement confirming that the Champions League second leg match would be open to the public despite coronavirus fears.

PSG’s Champions League last 16 second leg match against Borussia Dortmund will not be played behind closed doors, the Ligue 1 club have announced.

Several leagues across Europe have either called off matches or decreed they be played without spectators as the coronavirus spreads across the continent but PSG said in a club statement that as it stands, the French health authorities have not banned public gatherings and football games have not been included in the country’s Covid-19 protocols to date.

PSG confirms that the Champions League game between PSG and Dortmund will be staged as planned on 11 March 2020 and will played under normal conditions. PSG advises that football games with spectators are not among the prohibitions that the public health ministry has put in place. All of PSG’s staff are ready to welcome fans with the highest of security measures in place,” a club statement read.

There have been over 200 reported cases of Covid-19 in France and many football associations have been taking precautionary measures to prevent the further spread of the disease. Serie A has ordered all games to be staged without spectators after a raft of postponements while the Swiss league has suspended games and LaLiga and the Premier League are considering closed doors fixtures.
