REAL BETIS 2-1 REAL MADRID

Real Madrid player ratings vs Betis: Militao leads the lethargy

In what was one of Los Blancos' worst displays of the season, we look back at the individual performances that made up the whole at Villamarín.

Real Madrid travelled down to Seville in good spirits after their Clásico win over Barcelona last time out. But a disappointing night against Real Betis, a 2-1 loss that drops them to second place in the table, saw some pretty poor individual performances...

Real Madrid player ratings vs Betis

Courtois: From rock solid to grainy sand. He pulled of a superb save from Fekir, only to then fail to stop Sidnei, and was possibly aware of whether or not it should have been a penalty on Ramos. Little could he do to prevent Tello’s winner.

Militao: Having seen him in the position for Madrid, it seems unbelievable that he has played so many games on the right side with Porto... and with Brazil! In the 75th minute he was shown up by Fekir. It was alarming just how slow the defender responded to the Frenchman. From minute 47 to 52 he gave the ball away sloppily four times. Zidane will have to think very carefully if he is to put him in against Man City.

Ramos: A game to forget. Too loose and with too much of a desire to join in with the attacks, a factor that led to the opening goal.

Varane: Showed again his spectacular acceleration when he needed to call upon it. One of the better performers on the night.

Marcelo: What a pity. He was regaining his place in the team, starting in the last four LaLiga games, but was again the Marcelo we are familiar with. It was the Brazilian that won the penalty that led to Benzema's leveller.

Casemiro: He was getting used to having Valverde alongside him. But with the Uruguayan missing, he’s got so much more to deal with making it considerable more challenging.

Modric: An improvement. Nobody can question the Croatian’s efforts. In the 54th minute he saved the team defensively clearing from Joaquin who had an open goal.

Kroos: Invisible in the centre of the field. His inaccurate passing stood out as he is normally so precise. When he has to more work in midfield, he looks less assured.

Lucas Vázquez: Very hardworking in defence but not very successful going forward. Was given the full 90 minutes and almost fashioned an equaliser.

Benzema: He scored again after six games without doing so …albeit it from the penalty spot. It was his cross-ball error, though, that played a huge part in Betis’ second goal. He’s a shadow of the striker we saw in the first half of the season.

Vinicius: He didn’t have the same joy as he did in the Clásico. Was presented a couple of chances to shine, created his own, but then didn’t make them count.
