Confirmed UK coronavirus cases: 21 March

As of 17:00 CET (16:00 GMT) there were 4,094 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK, with 180 deaths. A total of 65 individuals have officially recovered from the disease.

Worldwide coronavirus cases as of 21 March

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases worldwide is now over 275,000, spread across more than 160 countries. For the first time since the crisis started China is no longer the country which has seen most deaths from Covid-19 - Italy's death toll of over 4,000 means it is the most affected nation.

UK coronavirus cases growing

In the UK pubs, cafés, gyms and restaurants closed on Friday after the government took action to stop the spread of the disease. The number of cases continues to rise, on 1 March there were 36 cases, this had risen to 383 by 10 March and hit nearly 2,000 by 17 March. The current total of 4,094 just 3 days later shows the rate of increase. (From worldometers)
