Rubens Sambueza “The highlight of my career was with América”
Rubens Sambueza is currently playing for Pachuca in Mexico and even though he hasn’t thought about retirement he cherishes his time at América.
Rubens Sambueza is currently 36-years-old and is a constant starter for Pachuca in the Clausura 2020 before it got postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Argentine midfielder has not thought about retirement just yet but when he does he wants to continue his career as a manager or assistant coach.
“As long as I have the will to keep playing and still make a difference for the team I am playing with I will continue. I trust God that I can continue doing something related to soccer when I retire, maybe becoming a coach because it attracts me a lot. I had a good career, won many titles but the best moments I experienced them with Club América,” Sambueza said.
It didn’t make sense that we played week 10 behind closed doors
Seven out of the nine games played in week 10 were behind closed doors due to the coronavirus pandemic. The two games with the presence of the public were illogic to Sambueza and he also mentioned that this break affects the players.
“It didn’t make sense that the games between Tijuana vs Pachuca and Morelia vs Querétaro were played with the presence of the people because next day the rest of the games were behind closed doors. Since the league got postponed the positive thing is that we get to spend time with our family but we have to train at home by ourselves to stay in shape. This affects the players and all the people involved with soccer but we got to understand that health comes first.”
Won’t be fair if Cruz Azul becomes champions
There is a possibility that Liga MX decides to cancel the Clausura 2020 to prevent the coronavirus from spreading and affecting the lives of people. This will open the door for Cruz Azul to be champions since they are at the top of the table after 10 games and have one more point than León, currently in second place.
“I think the best thing would be to play the tournament after the pandemic ends and that way all the teams can fight for the title on the pitch. I am not saying Cruz Azul doesn’t deserve the title but there are teams that could make a run for the championship.”
