Real Madrid: Marco Asensio steps up final training ahead of return

With Los Blancos players expected to be back at Valdebebas for post-quarantine training in the coming days, one forward will have a very unexpected chance to star.

Real Madrid: Marco Asensio steps up final training ahead of return

A few days ago we told you about Marco Asensio’s continued recovery plan that was lining him up for a return to football after a season out through injury. The stoppage due to the coronavirus has given him an unlikely chance of featuring for Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid in the delayed final part of the campaign.

Asensio puts foot on accelerator

There are eleven matchdays remaining as well as a Champions League quarter-final second leg against Man City in sight, although everyone remains clear about the doubts that exist over the virus as restrictions are lifted in Spain and further afield. And the forward has posted new images on his social media showing him cranking up the intensity efforts in the garden of his home.

It was on 7 August 2019 when Asensio went under the knife after being injured in the friendly against Arsenal in the International Champions Cup and signs were always that the cruciate setback would keep him out of action in the 2019/20 campaign. With the current understanding that Real Madrid and other LaLiga teams will return to training over the coming days, Asensio can look to get back to his very best and help his teammates strive for glory when the official games begin…in whatever form that happens.
