Real Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane takes charge of his 200th game for the club on Sunday, in LaLiga against Eibar in the Di Stéfano stadium at 19:30 CEST.

The French coach should have hit the 200-game mark back on 13 March, a Friday, with the game being moved to the early slot with Real Madrid playing the return leg of their Champions League tie against Manchester City on Tuesday 17 March, but the coronavirus pandemic has delayed the game against the Basque side a full three months.

Zidane record in charge of Real Madrid

Zidane took charge of Real Madrid for the first time in January 2016, with a thumping 5-0 win over Deportivo in LaLiga. Since then he's been in the dug-out for a further 198 games with Real Madrid: 134 games in LaLiga, 40 in the Champions League, 15 in the Copa, 4 in the Club World Cup, 4 in the Spanish Super Cup and 2 in the European Cup.

Zidane's record: 131 wins (65.8%), 42 draws (21.1%) and 26 defeats (13.1%).

Of those defeats, 17 have been in the league, with three against Betis, the side that have beaten Zidane's Madrid the most often; six in the Champions League; and three in the Copa del Rey (all three in the Bernabéu, against Leganés, Celta and Real Sociedad).

Under Zidane, Real Madrid have scored 486 goals (2.44 per game) and conceded 209 (1.05 per game).

Zidane's Real Madrid unbeaten in three competitions

Zidane's side are unbeaten in the Club World Cup, having played four and won them all, the Spanish Supercup (three wins and a draw) and the European Supercup (two games, two victories).

Zidane - Muñoz - Del Bosque

Zizou's record is in line with the only two Real Madrid coaches in charge for over 200 games: Miguel Muñoz helmed the club for 605 games and won 357 (59%), while Vicente del Bosque was in charge for 246 games, winning 133 (54%). In their first 199 games the defeat record for the three was: Zidane, 26; Muñoz, 33; and Del Bosque, 48.

Muñoz recorded the best win rate over his first 199 games: 144 (72.4%).

Real Madrid's greatest 'Club Men'

Alongside Luis Molowny (eight titles) these three, Zidane, Muñoz and Del Bosque, are Real Madrid's most important coaches. All took charge when the club needed them. And all of them came in during a dark period which ended up with them winning titles. Zidane, for example, took over from Benítez in 2016 and Solari in 2019, and has won 10 titles in his nearly 200 games. Those 10 titles, of course, make him the most successful Real Madrid coach in their first 199 games...
