Busquets: "Every team hopes that VAR will go in their favour"
The Barcelona midfielder was disappointed with Tuesday's 2-2 draw: "We were punished by the two penalties. If you concede two goals you have to fight even harder".
Sergio Busquets chatted to Movistar immediately after Tuesday's 2-2 draw with Atlético Madrid at Camp Nou - a result which could mean that Barcelona fall further behind Real Madrid in the battle to win LaLiga. Madrid, who are just one point behind the blaugranas in the table, have the chance to go two points clear if they can beat Getafe on Thursday.
What are you feelings about dropping another two points?
Dropping two points make it even harder for us now in our battle to win the league because it leave is with a lot of ground to make up but we will continue to fight until it is not mathematically possible for us to win it. We know it's going to be difficult but we'll try.
Were you happy with how the team played?
We were up against a very difficult opponent but we competed well and dominated the game and created chances but maybe we were punished by the two penalties that were awarded against us. When a great team puts two goals past you, you have to give more to win. It was a shame.
How did you view the penalty decisions?
It's difficult to see moves during open play. Every team hopes that VAR will go in their favour. I have no idea what really happened in the move because it happened so quickly - watching it back on television might be different but it's not for me to judge.
How much responsibility lies with the players for allowing Madrid to overtake you in the league table?
We were in a good situation before football was put on hold because we had a significant lead but we've dropped points since then. We have had games in which we've played worse than we did tonight, I think we competed well tonight. For one reason or another we were unable to take all three points and we will be a little further away from Madrid if they win. We have to focus on ourselves and what we do and try to win our games.
