Update:
Rayo's Echarri attracting interest from around Europe, ready to make a step up

Marc Echarri is ready to make a step forward in his career. The 21-year-old striker is attracting interest from clubs both inside Spain and in Portugal and Germany, a source close to the player tells AS English. The Spaniard is keen, however, to make a move to Segunda B with a loan option possible. He would have to renew in order to be loaned, however, with just a year left on his current contract.

The 21-year-old Rayo Vallecano striker has been ready to test himself at a higher level all season and debuted with Rayo’s first team under Paco Jemez this season, playing against Girona in LaLiga SmartBank and against SD Tarazona in the Copa del Rey. The opportunities have dried up, however, even if Echarri’s ‘hunger to play, help the team and keep scoring goals’ remains the same.

Echarri's impressive goalscoring record

Echarri scored 14 in 20 games with Rayo Vallecano’s B team last season and has been a prolific goalscorer throughout his career. Echarri was sure the break brought on by the coronavirus pandemic and the injury to Leonardo Ulloa earlier in the season would force the club to look to their reserve side for solutions but that wasn’t the case.

After football was suspended by the Spanish football federation, Echarri spent the confinement developing his strength, dropping body fat and working on his speed the same source tells AS English.

Losing Echarri completely would be a blow to the club, who have seen Joni Montiel, Sergio Benito (currently on loan at Cultural Leonesa) and others develop with loan moves before returning to play important roles at the club. Rayo Vallecano lost another top academy talent recently when Barcelona signed another Spanish international attacking midfielder, Fabián Luzzi.

Echarri has options on the table and is ready to test himself at a higher level. His goalscoring form last season would suggest he is ready too.
