According to Catalan radio network RAC-1, UEFA have been monitoring the coronavirus situation liaising closely with the Catalan Department of Health.

According to the El Mòn show on radio network RAC-1, UEFA have been in close contact with the local Catalan Department of Health looking for a series of guarantees ahead of the forthcoming Champions League Round of 16 tie (second leg) between FC Barcelona and Napoli scheduled to take place at Camp Nou on 8 August.

UEFA are concerned about the recent outbreak of positive coronavirus cases in the Catalan capital and are requesting safety guarantees ahead of the game with both FC Porto's and Vitoria Guimaraes' home grounds on stand-by as possible alternatives for the tie.

Barça are anxious that the game is staged at Camp Nou and despite no spectators being present, the Catalan side will home home advantage is a factor in progressing in the competition.

At present, according to a number of local Catalan outlets, the message from the Department of Health to Europe's footballing governing body is that Cataluña is safe and there will be no health risks for the Serie A side's expedition ahead of the match.
