Juventus in talks to sign Weston McKennie
The United States Men’s National Team midfielder is reportedly close to joining Juventus on a €3 million loan deal. The agreement is set to be completed soon.
The Serie A winners will have the option to buy the USMNT midfielder at the end of the year but they will have to pay Schalke an extra €18 million to make the move permanent.
McKennie’s season in the Bundesliga
The 21-year-old had an outstanding season with Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga, playing 28 games and scoring a total of three goals.
According to Whoscored.com, McKennie was the 10th-highest-rated player at Schalke 04 last season with a rating of 6.79. The first one on the list was the midfielder Suat Serdar with a rating of 7.31.
McKennie’s intentions were to stay at the club at least one more year, but since they failed to qualify for next years’ UEFA Champions League, he has decided that it is best for him to leave. Schalke is also welcoming this deal as the club’s looks to finance some of its €200 million debt, which has increased due to the coronavirus crisis.
