Elche to face Barcelona in the 2020 Trofeo Joan Gamper
Newly promoted Elche will face FC Barcelona as part of the 2020 Joan Gamper Cup with the match set to be the first time the Gamper will be played without fans present.
FC Barcelona have confirmed that Elche will be their opponents in the 2020 Trofeo Joan Gamper with the game set to take place next Saturday (19 September) at Camp Nou at 19:00 CEST.
The game marks the 55th Trofeo Joan Gamper and will be the first time the pre-season classic takes place with no supporters. Barça fans outside Spain can watch the game via the club's Barça TV+ platform.
The game will be the final pre-season test for new Barça coach Ronald Koeman who guided his side to a 3-1 win over 2B outfit Nastic on Saturday. The Catalan giants now face 2a side Girona on Wednesday before closing their pre-season trio of games with Elche offering opposition. The side from Alicante secured promotion to LaLiga with a win over Girona in the play-off final and the Camp Nou test will enable Elche boss Jorge Almirón to finalise details with both Elche and Barcelona commencing their 2020/21 league campaign the following weekend.
