Qatar anticipates 1.5 million fans during 2022 World Cup
Qatar plans to lay on an exceptional and unforgettable experience for fans from all over the world during the World Cup in 2022.
Fatima Fakhro, Vice Chairman for Host Country Operation Affairs at the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), which is responsible for organizing and overseeing all of the projects connected with the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, has reiterated the country’s commitment to providing an extraordinary experience for fans from all over the world attending the tournament. Based on the quality of the host stadiums and the accommodation offer that will be available during the event, which are the two foundation stones of the World Cup, Fakhro said that Qatar is striving to make sure the tournament will appeal to visitors from across the globe.
“We have made many options available to fans attending the World Cup, and along these lines we are consistently committed to our obligations. As such, we have been expanding the accommodation options for our guests so that they will fit every budget and appeal to the varied tastes of all visitors during the tournament.”
Fakhro added that the Qatari national effort ahead of hosting the World Cup is based on two main principles: putting on an unforgettable experience for fans and sustainability in terms of accommodation, which includes a commitment to not build anything that won’t be used after the end of the tournament.
Speaking to Qatari news agency Qna, Fakhro said: “According to our estimates, we expect to receive 1.5 million fans during the World Cup. In line with this, we are placing a lot of emphasis on expanding the accommodation options available to visitors during the 2022 World Cup.”
Mubarak Hamdan Al Arabeed, Director of the Housing and Government Buildings Department at the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, said that Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy is grateful to all home owners who are willing to cooperate with the World Cup 2022 organization by participating in the real estate rental programme, which consists of lets signed by both parties to provide accommodation for fans.
“The work is progressing and we are receiving requests from home owners who wish to register in government housing and then to sign contracts with real estate owners approved by the SC. The application process will be closed when we have received the required number of accommodations and it is expected that this all the required real estate will be received between August 2021 and January 2022.
Al Arabeed added that one of the requirements for those people wishing to register with the real estate rental programme for the 2022 World Cup is that the properties be completely furnished.
