Sergiño Dest lands in Barcelona ahead of move to LaLiga club

Sergiño Dest was caught by journalist Alfredo Martínez arriving at Barcelona airport on Tuesday ahead of a move to the LaLiga club from Ajax. The total sum of the transfer will be 25 million euros and both clubs are still finalising some details, but the 19-year-old will sign his new contract in the next couple of days.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barça don’t want to pay the full amount at once because they are struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic. Barcelona’s bosses want to make payments throughout the season to Ajax until the full amount is paid, but the Eredivisie team want the full amount.

Dest wants to play for FC Barcelona

Bayern Munich were in advanced negotiations with Ajax to sign the 19-year-old, only for the Eredivisie team to shift their attentions to a deal with FC Barcelona. According to Sport, Bayern feel “betrayed” and are now accusing Ajax for using “dirty tricks” in the negotiations for Dest.

Barcelona were just waiting to make Nelson Semedo’s transfer to Wolverhampton official to start bidding for Dest and that is why Ajax stalled the negotiations with Bayern. A major reason for the Eredivisie team going with Barcelona is because Dest has dreamt of playing there since he was a kid.
