Several reports emerged is South Africa on Wednesday about Mamelodi Sundown's coach Pitso Mosimane's resignation as he is set to accept an offer from Al-Ahly.

An article in South African (Times Live) said that Mosimane has stepped down as a coach following a meeting with the club's board in which he has informed them of his intention to leave.

The article also stated that Al-Ahly's president Mahmoud Al-Khatib is an admirer of Mosimane describing him as one of the best in Africa and wants him to be the successor of the current coach René Weiler, who is close to leaving the Egyptian giants.

Another article published on the South African website (kickoff) also confirmed the news as it said that Mosimane who has achieved an historic domestic treble with Sundowns has been contacted by the red devils' administration and it's probably time for him to take the helm of the African club of the century with the most CAF Champions League titles (8 titles).

Current Al-Ahly coach Weiler has expressed his desire to leave last week despite the very good campaign he has had with the club with a source inside the club having revealed "Al-Ahly administration has chosen other coaches on the waiting list and one of them will be negotiated in the event that the contract with Pitso Mosimane who is the closest to taking the job fails. The new coach will be confirmed on Thursday."

Mosimane has been in charge of Sundowns since 2012 and managed to win the champions league title with the team in 2016 after defeating Al-Ahly's historic rival Zamalek in the final.
