MLS: Alan Pulido named best player of week 15

The 29-year-old striker has adapted quickly to Major League Soccer and so far he has scored six goals with Sporting Kansas City this season.

MLS: Alan Pulido named best player of week 15

Alan Pulido was transferred from Chivas de Guadalajara and signed a four-year contract with Kansas City to play in Major League Soccer starting this 2020 season. The Mexican striker won everything with Chivas and saw the MLS as a new challenge in his career with hopes of  returning to the national team.

Pulido started the season with Kansas on the right foot, scoring two goals in the first two games before it was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. During the MLS is Back tournament the 29-year-old scored once before getting injured.

Since resuming the 2020 MLS season, Pulido has since scored three goals. The striker netted twice in Kansas City's 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo in matchday 15 of the regular season. After his performance Pulido was named Player of Week 15 ahead of the FIFA international break.

Pulido returns to Mexico national team

Prior to the beginning of the season Pulido stated that his main goal was to return to the national team and he has achieved this already. Mexico’s coach Gerardo Martino decided to include Pulido in the 26-man squad that will face the Netherlands (7 October) and Algeria (13 October).

This is the first time that Alan Pulido has been called up to the national team since 2018. The Sporting Kansas City striker has scored five goals in his 13 caps for Mexico’s senior team. Due to his call up Pulido will miss the club's games against Chicago, Nashville and FC Dallas.
