The UEFA Champions League group stage is halfway done and many United States men’s national team players have seen action in several games with their respective clubs. Here are the American players that saw action on matchday three.
Sergiño Dest
The 20-year-old has made an instant impact at FC Barcelona under new manager Ronald Koeman. Dest has played two out of the three in this tournament and in both matches he was part of the starting XI and was not subbed out. So far he has yet to make a difference with an assist or a goal, but he keeps gaining minutes in Europe's most important tournament.
Weston McKennie
After missing matchday one due to testing positive for coronavirus, the United States international has been gaining minutes in the UEFA Champions League as he comes back to full fitness. He has made two appearances in this tournament, coming on as a sub against FC Barcelona and on matchday 3 against Ferencváros in Juventus' 4-1 win.
Gio Reyna vs Ethan Hovarth
Borussia Dortmund defeated Club Brugge 3-0 and are currently at the top of Group F with six points. Brugge's Hovarth stayed on the bench, but Gio Reyna was part of Dortmund’s starting XI and played a total of 77 minutes. Reyna has one assist so far in this tournament.
Tyler Adams
RB Leipzig surprisingly defeated Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 to take over second place in Group H, tied on six points with Manchester United. Tyler Adams has come in as a sub in two out of the three games Leipzig has played. So far the American midfielder has a total of 46 minutes in both matches.
