Representatives of the Asian football confederation have praised the World Cup stadiums being readied for Qatar 2022, after they experienced a tour of the venues where the AFC Champions League east competition will be held. This will start on 18 November and continues through until 13 December in Doha, where the teams will battle it out to reach the final to face the Iranian side Persepolis on December 19, also in Doha.
During the tour, the committee visited four stadiums, including three of those for the World Cup: Al Janoub, Education City, and Al Khalifa International, the three inaugurated from a total of eight dedicated to Qatar 2022, where the AFC Champions League matches will be played, along with the Jassem Bin Hamaad stadium of Al Sadd, which is also equipped with cooling technology.
There was plenty of appreciation shown for the efforts made by the event’s local organizing committee, which has spared nothing to provide all the universally required standards for the needs of the teams involved ensuring necessary sanitary measures and a strict protocol that have been accredited by the organizing committee and the appropriate authorities.
The committee confirmed the expectations of a successful delivery of the events organised in Qatar, taking into account the competitions impacted by covid-19, Qatar giving a positive image in their impressive organisation, with the representatives also praising the final preparations being made for the continental competition.
The Asian delegation's visit to Qatar was part of the organising mission, and meetings were arranged with the heads of the local organising committee, as well as visits to the hotels being used for the Asian teams, the heads of their confederation and the referees.
The representatives of the AFC have been in Doha for 10 days, in a follow-up to the preparations for the tournament, raising awareness of all the actions that will contribute to its success after that of the western part of the continent from which the Iranian team Persepolis qualified for the final. As stated earlier, this will be played in the city of Doha on 19 December.
