Liverpool vs Atalanta: how and where to watch - times, TV, online
All the information you need to know on how and where to watch Liverpool host Atalanta at Anfield (Liverpool) in Group D on 25 November at 21:00 CET.
2018/2019 Champions League winners Liverpool are aiming for a victory over Atalanta that would give them their ticket to the knockout rounds.
Liverpool are living a sweet moment in Europe, as the standings in Group D prove: they are top of their group with three wins against Ajax, Atalanta and Midtjylland.
But they are also performing quite well in the Premier League, sitting second in the standings with the same points as leaders Tottenham, ahead on goal-average.
Atalanta need to bounce back in Anfield
As for Atalanta, seventh in the Serie A table, they are fighting with Ajax to get a spot for the next round of the competition and their match against The Reds is certainly very important for them, since Ajax are expected to beat Midtjylland.
However, the Italian side won’t just have to deal with Jürgen Klopp’s men, but also with their own confidence, as their 0-5 loss in gameweek three against Liverpool is Atalanta's heaviest ever home European defeat.
And the statistics don’t seem to favour Atalanta either: Liverpool haven’t been beaten at Anfield for the last 54 matches across all competitions inside 90 minutes.
Salah is back; Jota, another option
For Wednesday’s match, Klopp will see the return of Mohamed Salah, who tested positive for coronavirus twice during the international break, after he returned a negative test. The Egyptian star, who seems ready after taking part in the latest training sessions with the rest of the team, could play against Atalanta, but the German coach has in Diogo Jota another option for the attack. The Portuguese striker scored a hat-trick in the reverse fixture.
Roberto Firmino didn’t train on Tuesday evening but it seems there is nothing to worry about with the Brazilian forward.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri are all unavailable.
Too early for Henderson and Alcántara?
Jordan Henderson and Thiago Alcántara could feature in the midfield but it’s uncertain they will have some minutes, as Klopp may not want to take risks, while Rhys Williams seems to be recovered from a hip problem.
As for Atalanta, they won’t be able to call upon Mattia Caldara due to a knee problem, while Ruslan Malinovski and Fabio Depaoli are also unavailable.
The good news for the visitors is that Robin Gosens, Marten de Roon, José Luis Palomino and Pierluigi Gollini are all recovered and included in the travelling squad.
