The Game Awards 2020 is almost upon us. The biggest event of its kind in history will take place on Thursday 10 December, a night when we will learn which game has been voted the best in this most exceptional year. And we already know all the nominees.
The Game Awards 2020 (GOTY) live online: nominees and announcements
TGA 2020 will be held online, for very obvious reasons, and there are to be several dozen awards dished out, including the much coveted GOTY. The community of gamers will make their own contribution to the event by voting for the Players Voice Award.
How to watch The Game Awards 2020 live
If this is an awards ceremony that you need to follow live, then be sure to clear your schedule for Thursday night (and through to Friday morning depending on where you live in the world). Although at the time of writing we are yet to learn the time that it will commence, if other years are anything to go on, it should get underway around 7pm-8pm Eastern Time (that’s 1am-2am on Friday CET). The broadcast can be followed live on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, Facebook, Steam, IGN and AS, among others, and there will be participation from those in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London. At some point during the proceedings we we learn which of Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, Doom Eternal, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and The Last of Us Part 2 has taken the gong for Game of the Year 2020.
How to vote for GOTY at The Game Awards 2020
The public vote for The Game Awards 2020 is divided into three rounds. The first of these took place on 2 December (deciding the 10 from 30 candidates); the second on 4 December (5 from 10 candidates) and then the third on 6 December (1 from 5 candidates).
The steps to vote are very simple and you can access this at the official website of The Game Awards, along with information regarding all the other categories.
