Manchester United host Manchester City in the Premier League fixture of the weekend to decide the outcome of the 183rd Manchester derby at Old Trafford. The game takes place on Saturday, December 12.

Both teams come into the game off the back of midweek Champions League action. Hosts United were beaten 3-2 away in Germany to RB Leipzig, which saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side crash out of the competition.

City brushed aside Marseille in a 3-0 home win in Group C which sees them progress to the Champions League round of 16.

This Saturday’s Manchester derby will be played behind closed doors at Old Trafford as Mancunians will stay in their homes in Tier 3 until the Christmas break.

Having been knocked out of the Champions League during the week, November's Premier League Player of the Month Bruno Fernandes had the following to say after the defeat.

“Not good enough from us,” the Portuguese midfielder wrote on his official Instagram account.

“We have to do much better to represent such a big club and especially playing in the Champions League with big teams.”

Fernandes declared Manchester United can win the title this season after receiving the award. He scored four goals in as many games to claim the honour for the third time in the calendar year, a feat most recently achieved by Tottenham's Harry Kane in 2017.

Sergio Agüero's return to fitness is a huge boost for Manchester City heading into Saturday's derby, says Bernardo Silva.

Silva is delighted to have Agüero available for selection to provide Man City with the boost they need to claim the bragging rights across the city. Agüero played 25 minutes as a second-half substitute and scored the second goal in a 3-0 win over Marseille on Wednesday.

City boss Pep Guardiola said Agüero would not start against United at Old Trafford, with complications in his recovery from meniscus surgery limiting the 32-year-old to five appearances this season.

"Everyone knows he's important," the Portugal midfielder said in quotes reported on City's website. "He is one of the best players the club has ever had and a great goalscorer.

"He is also a great guy and personality to have around the team and it's great to have him back," Silva said.

"When you win it's always easy to go to the next game, it's easier to win again and again. We want to keep the momentum going in a tough game against United on Saturday and we want to keep winning."
