Josep Maria Minguella, adviser to presidential candidate Emili Rousaud, is suggesting the signing of the Norwegian striker, and Real Madrid target, is a done deal.

Josep Maria Minguella, Emili Rousaud's advisor and future sporting vice-president of FC Barcelona if the Els Millors group wins the candidacy, suggested on Wednesday that Erling Haaland would play in the azulgrana colours next season if Rousaud wins the elections on 24 January.

Haaland to Barcelona?

In doing so, Minguella hints at an agreement already being in place with the player's representative, Mino Raiola, and with his current club, Borussia Dortmund, for the 20-year-old Norwegian striker’s transfer. It’s worth noting, however, that Haaland has also been linked with the Catalan club with a presidential win for Joan Laporta, due to his close relationship with Raiola, who is standing with the Estimem backers.

Asked about the signing of both Haaland and Kylian Mbappé, Minguella responded.

“We know all the conditions and if we win, the following day I will call Mino Raiola and we will accept those conditions. I have already advised him of that.”

Regarding the PSG forward he elaborated: “it is a little more complicated because his contract ends the next year,” although "we are on top of the issue and movements have already been made. We are there.”

As is customary for any candidate, a big name is usually attached to them being victorious and as one of the hottest properties around right now, there is no doubt that Haaland would be a welcome addition for fans of the club.

Rousaud grabbing headlines

That said, Laporta and the other candidate, Font, have preferred not to get involved in calling out the stars that come with their vote. But Minguella has advised Rousaud to continue making the headlines: a stadium name change to Camp Nou-Leo Messi, the return of Neymar when his contract ends, and now Haaland.

Emili Rousaud, the former vice-president during Bartomeu's term, resigned after accusing the former president of putting his hand in the club till. He was hoping to ensure himself as a single candidate to take over but this never materialised with others in the race unwilling to step aside.

"We have a world-class sports project that is not showing just now, but Emili Rousaud has a plan that will turn this unfortunate situation around," said Minguella, who also announced the signing of Hristo Stoichkov to the background team..
