After Avengers: Endgame it looked like Capitan America had chosen to retire. In May when Chris Evans was asked if Capitan America was definitely done, he told Graham Norton “yeah I think it’s done. It was a great run and we went out on such a high note.” However, less than a year later Chris Evans is reportedly about to close a deal to return as Steve Rogers aka Captain America. Marvel has not commented on Chris Evan’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Evans has been coy as to whether there is any truth to the rumors as well.

According to Deadline, which first reported that Capitan America was possibly making a return the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s unlikely to be a new Captain America installment. Instead Evan’s appearance will be something along the lines of what Robert Downey Jr. Did after Iron Man 3 playing Iron Man in Captain America: Civil War. So far Evans is expected to return in at least one MCU project with the possibility of another appearance later.

Capitan America never died

The possibilities are endless with Capitan America travelling through time to return all the Infinity Stones in the final moments of Avengers: Endgame. In the end he chose to stay in the past to live out his life with Peggy Carter the love of his life. Perhaps along the way he was detoured by another mission that needed his attention.

In his last appearance, Evans handed over his shield to Sam Wilson aka the Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie. Mackie is appearing on the Disney+ production The Falcon and The Winter Soldier scheduled to release in March. That is just one of several projects Marvel has planned over the coming years for both Disney+ and movie theaters.

Marvel has been very apt at slipping characters into other MCU properties over the years, even after that character’s franchise has come to an end. The potential options are without bounds.
