Barcelona left it late to reach the quarter-finals of this year's Copa del Rey. Second half goals from Leo Messi and Frenkie de Jong put Ronald Koeman's side into Friday's draw.

Neto

Good with the ball at his feet. Could be questioned over spilling the right wing cross which led to Rayo taking the lead. 6/10

Mingueza

He is not a right back and seems uncomfortable in the position, failing to offer Trincao help on the right wing. He'll be glad to return to a central defensive role. 5/10

Araujo

Another excellent display from the young defender. He still has to improve with the ball at his feet but has been rock solid since replacing Gerard Piqué at the heart of the Barcelona defence. 8/10

Lenglet

The most experienced of the two centre-backs, playing alongside Araújo. Dealt well with Rayo pressure, making several clearances. 7/10

Junior Firpo

He left the pitch frustrated. Koeman gave him a chance but he didn't take it on the night. Hesitant in defence, he didn't offer a whole lot going forward. Eventually replaced by Jordi Alba. 5/10

Sergio Busquets

Great first half from the veteran holder, recovering balls and making Barça tick from his usual deep role, with thirty yard passes to break Rayo lines, including a superb ball to Messi. After the break, his game went down a notch or two, but he kept on top of things thanks to his tactical intelligence. The team will miss him this Sunday, as he will not be involved against Athletic. 7/10

De Jong

He started quieter than usual, without participating much in the game, perhaps being overshadowed by Busquets. But the Dutchman grew as the game progressed. He hit the post from close range. Played a great pass into space for Griezmann to assist Messi and took advantage of Alba's assist to win the game late on in Vallecas. 8/10

Riqui Puig

He played for the first time this season for more than 45 minutes. Always alert and busy, he didn't play badly, but it wasn't his best game. Came close to scoring his second goal for the first team. 6/10

Trincao

Showed glimpses of skill on the right wing. Rayo couldn't handle him at times as he dazzled his way past defenders but he is still very inconsistent in his game. Missed a good chance to score. 6/10

Messi

The Argentine was highly motivated throughout. He cracked a free-kick off the crossbar and got Barça back into the game when they were trailing 1-0. 7/10

Griezmann

His workrate and professionalism on the pitch showed once again, fighting for every ball and sacrificing himself in defence, but he still needs to be more decisive in front of goal. Laid the ball on a plate for Messi to equalise for Barcelona. 7/10

Substitutes

Jordi Alba

He came on in the 67th minute for a disappointing Junior Firpo and in two minutes had already taken over the left wing. The team's game was switched to his wing and from there came the second goal, after a great pass from Messi, to assist De Jong at the back post. 8/10

Pedri

Showed his class on occasions. Came in as part of the trio in charge of turning the game on its head. 6/10

Dembélé

He was less involved that he would have liked, starting this time from the right wing. 5/10

Braithwaite

He played just six minutes and barely got a touch. Picked up a late booking. 5/10
