Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak was interviewed on Cadena SER's El Larguero programme where he spoke about the impressive great season: "We have to continue playing as we have been. We've a long way to go still".

High level in LaLiga: "At the moment we are fine. We started the season strongly. We are not favourites, just candidates. We have to continue this way, but we still have a long way to go until the end. Let's hope we can carry on getting results so that we will be in with a chance of winning the league at the end".

Father's influence: "My father was a goalkeeper and I wanted to be like him. I'm sure he was better than me. He was a really good keeper and always played football in our city. Since I was a boy I wanted to be like him".

Other sports: "I used to train quite a lot on a bike but I never really thought about becoming a cyclist. I love sport and I love basketball. My sister is a basketball player in Prague. I like the NBA and I also check the results. I follow Doncic and I am not surprised at his level".

Atleti changing styles: "We are playing in a different way. But in terms of ambition, Atlético will always be Atlético. We are improving how we play. We have a good team, after a few players left a couple of years ago. We have changed the system a little, although we can still play a 4-4-2. All of the team has to defend well. The system with three centre-backs helps us going forward and lets us keep our shape more so that we can play some nicer football. For me, there is no such thing as pretty football, I just want to win. The important thing is to look at the table and see where you are".

Another 'Zamora' trophy? "I'm not thinking about that. It's a nice award for the work done by the whole team. You just try not to let any goals in. Do I have many saves to make? That depends on the game. I have had more work to do and that depends on the game or the grounds we are playing at. My job is to stop goals. Concentration is very important and key for any goalkeeper. You might be quick but if your mind isn't focused it's difficult. You always need to be alert to everything".

Simeone said you are: "The Messi of goalkeepers" "It's very nice for Simeone to think that about me; for me, Messi is the best player. I am doing my best to help the team get good results. There are a lot of great goalkeeper about, I really value consistency over many years. Simeone is a great coach. It's very difficult for a coach to stay at the same club for so long".

Future: "I'm under contract here and I haven't said anything about interest from other clubs. That's a matter for my agent. I've kept quiet because I have always felt that we can do more. The desire to win trophies here is why I've stayed. In the end, a player plays where he wants to be. At the moment, nothing better has arrived and I am here. We never know where we might end up. Look at the situation we are in. So many things can change from one day to the next".
