Sergio Ramos and Isco not in 17-man Real Madrid squad for Huesca trip

Real Madrid's captain trained inside the gym on Friday while Isco felt a sharp pain to his back at the end of the session. Víctor Chust and Marvin make the list.

Update:
Sergio Ramos and Isco not in 17-man Real Madrid squad for Huesca trip

Sergio Ramos won't make the trip to Huesca. The Real Madrid captain, who is still suffering discomfort to his left knee, didn't join his team mates for today's session in Valdebebas - the final preparation for tomorrow's league game at El Alcoraz and has been left out of Zidane's squad list. The coach has called 17 players - 14 of them from the first team squad but Isco, like Ramos, won't be making the trip. The midfielder noticed a sharp pain in his back towards the end of the session and will undergo tests this weekend to find out what the problem is.

Ramos completed Friday' session inside the gym after having trained with the group the two previous days. It will be the fourth game which the central has missed this season. His last appearance was the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club. Ramos complained of twinges to his knee during the warm-up for today's workout. His fitness problems continue - issues with his knee which made him sit out the recent games against Alcoyano, Alavés and Levante.

Zidane had just 19 to work with on Friday. Apart from Ramos, the coach is also without Dani Carvajal, Lucas Vázquez, (who both trained apart for some of today's session) as well as Fede Valverde, Eden Hazard and Rodrygo – who exercised with Ramos in the gym; and Militão, who trained with the main group but is suspended for the Huesca game. Madrid appealed to the Competitions Committee in an attempt to see the red card which the defender was shown last week against Levante reversed but their protests were in vain, the one-match ban stands.

Zidane is only able to take a 17-man squad to Huesca -  with Isco sidelined at the last minute, the coach cannot call on anyone from the reserves as LaLiga obliges all players included in travelling squads who have games on a Saturday to undergo PCR tests on the previous Thursday.

With some many first team players unavailable, the coach has included Castilla players Víctor Chust and Marvin in his squad list.
