Barcelona's plan to unite Messi and Agüero
Agüero's contract at Manchester City ends in June. The Catalan club are aiming to bring the Argentine to Camp Nou ahead of next season.
Joan Laporta becoming FC Barcelona's new president has seen the Catalan club to start making plans for the next season.
With the difficult financial situation that the club is going through, all initial efforts will be directed towards Leo Messi staying at Camp Nou, something that will not be plain sailing at all if we take into account the offers that the Argentine is expected to receive. Messi could go on a free once his contract ends on June 30.
According to TyC Sports, Barcelona have already contacted Sergio Agüero, Messi's close friend, to try to convince him to come to Barcelona in a bid towards helping the club captain stay in Catalonia. Agüero joining Barça could make 'La Pulga' stay on to lead Joan Laporta's new project on the pitch.
Agüero also sees his contract end on June 30 and is currently playing in his tenth season with Manchester City, who paid €40 million in 2011 to Atlético Madrid, before he went on to become a club legend in Manchester.
Agüero key to Messi's future
Due to the great friendship that unites them, Agüero has never hidden his desire to one day play alongside Leo Messi and the City player could be the main factor in convincing Messi to stay at FC Barcelona.
