“Chivas is the greatest club in Mexico” - Antonio Briseño
This Sunday Chivas and Club América will play the first ‘El Super Clásico’ of the year for matchday 11 of the 2021 Guardianes tournament.
For Chivas defender there is no comparison between the team that he plays for and Club América just a few days prior to the first ‘El Super Clásico’ of the year. Both teams are set to meet on Sunday at the Akron stadiums for matchday 11 of the 2021 Guardianes tournament.
Chivas has more history
Club América has won a record of thirteen Liga MX titles, as well as six Copa MX titles and six Campeón de Campeones trophies. Also they are the team in CONCACAF with the majority of international trophies with a record of 10 FIFA recognized titles across all competitions. On the other hand, Chivas has one less league title than the Eagles, but for Briseño that doesn’t mean anything.
“You can’t measure greatness based on the number of titles. There are teams that have more titles than Amériica. Unlike them, Chivas has an identity as a franchise and a tradition that no other team has, because we only play with Mexican footballers. We have the best fan base in Mexico and the United States, we sell more jerseys than any other club and the Mexican citizens feel identified with our colors,” said Briseño.
“That is why I think Chivas is the greatest club in Mexico, because we could win the league title this year or the next and have the same amount as América. They don’t scare anyone [like Federico Viñas said earlier this week] and on Sunday it will be 11 against 11,” he added.
