Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund live online: Champions League 2020/21

Manchester City will continue their quest for the Champions League title when they welcome Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad Stadium for the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

The Citizens are among the last eight teams after beating another German club, Borussia Mönchengladbach, quite easily in the round of 16.

Meanwhile, Dortmund had to battle until the very end against Sevilla to secure their ticket to the quarter-finals, as they got through by just one goal (2-3, 2-2).

Nobody can stop City

City, who could win a quartet of trophies this season, are untouchable in the Premier League, with nine consecutive wins away. With their 2-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday they are almost touching the trophy. They have 74 points, 14 more than neighbors Manchester United, who are sitting second in the standings.

Pep Guardiola will try to bring their dominance in the domestic competition to the most important European competition and avoid being knocked out of the tournament in the quarter-finals for a fourth consecutive season.

Dortmund, dangerous in Europe

They will face, though, a dangerous team in Dortmund, with star striker Erling Haaland as their main menace, as he’s regarded by many as the best striker in Europe together with Robert Lewandowski.

The situation for the German team is quite different: they are fifth in the Bundesliga and have no chances to fight for the title at this point. Leaders Bayern Munich have 64 points, 21 more than Edin Terzic’s team, who have lost 10 of their 27 league games.

A healthy and fit squad for Guardiola

The Catalan coach will have a fully-fit squad for the match against the German team. His only concern might be that Joao Cancelo and Fernandinho won’t be able to play the second leg if they pick up a booking. Ilkay Gundogan could replace Fernandinho and Cancelo could be the one in the starting XI.

Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling will probably feature from the start in the attacking line, while Phil Foden could take Sergio Agüero's spot.

Sancho won't play the first leg

As for Dortmund, Jadon Sancho won’t be available to play against his former teammates due to a thigh issue, although he could be ready for the second leg.

Dan-Axel Zagadou and Axel Witsel will also miss the match, while Nico Schulz is likely to lose his place at left-back to Raphael Guerreiro.

Haaland is one booking away from being suspended, but will undoubtedly be playing up front, while Jude Bellingham and Emre Can could earn starts against the English powerhouse.
