Chelsea will be looking to carry on impressing their fans when they face Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday 7 April, after their solid performace against Atlético Madrid in the previous round. Both legs of their quarter-final batttle will take place at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán due to coronavirus travel restrictions.

However, they are facing a team that shocked the bookmakers and a fair few football fans too when they send Italian giants Juventus crashing out of the tournament over two legs.

Porto shouldn't be overlooked in Europe

The Portuguese squad have made it to the quarter-finals round for the fourth time in the past 16 seasons, although they have never advanced past this stage since they won the competition in the 2003-04 season.

Porto, who are sitting second in the Portuguese league eight points behind leaders Sporting CP, have only failed to find the back of the net once in their last 12 games across all competitions.

History favors the Blues

Meanwhile, Chelsea have emerged victorious in five of their eight Champions League meetings with Porto since 2004. Their most recent match ended in a 2-0 win for the Blues during the 2015-16 group stage.

The ‘hosts’ won’t be able to call upon Oliveira, who has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season, due to an accumulation of yellow cards. Mehdi Taremi is also suspended.

Pepe returned to the starting lineup against Santa Clara and will feature from the start in the heart of defence, while Malang Sarr might also play against the English outfit.

Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic will likely be the chosen ones in midfield, while Christian Pulisic should also be involved despite suffering some physical issues during the match against West Brom.
