English football’s most successful clubs, Manchester United and Liverpool, will battle it out at Old Trafford for three hugely valuable points in the final strech of the Premier League.

Man Utd vs Liverpool: match preview

A victory for the Red Devils would secure them a top-four position in the table, while the visitors can't really afford not to win if they want to maintain their push for one of the remaining Champions League spots.

Jürgen Klopp’s men are currently sitting sixth in the table, with 54 points, seven less than Chelsea, in fourth position (having played one more), while United are second with 67 points, 13 behind leaders Manchester City, who could become champions if the hosts lose to Liverpool.

Liverpool can't afford to stumble at Old Trafford

The greater need is clearly on Liverpool’s side, if they are to have any real hope of catching a much improved side under Thomas Tuchel. The good news for Liverpool is that they have won five of their last seven league away games, more victories than they had managed in their previous 15 games on the road before that.

However, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s team are in great form, as they proved on Thursday against Roma in their Europa League semi-finals, hammering the Italian side 6-2 and effectively confirming their presence in the final. The likes of Cavani, Fernandes and Rashford are expected to be in the starting XI for the Red Devils, while Liverpool will try to get their front three of Salah, Firmino and Mané firing once again, with Jota also a possible starter.
