ATLÉTICO MADRID

PSG and Man Utd interested in Atlético Madrid defender Trippier

Trippier is having a great season at Atlético Madrid. Both PSG and Manchester United want to sign the England international, whose contract expires in 2022.

PSG are keen on making a move for Atlético Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier. The Englishman is having an impressive season at the Madrid club and that has not gone unnoticed by some of the top clubs in European football. Mauricio Pochettino wants him to sign a right-back at PSG, although it will not be easy, as Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Trippier.

The full-back has a contract with the Wanda Metropolitano outfit until 30 June 2022, meaning he has one year left on his current deal. Atlético will have to sit down with him to renew his contract or he could leave for free next season. The 30-year-old has been one of Simeone's regulars since he arrived last season with the aim of replacing Juanfran. The Athletic say that Trippier's preference would be to bring his family back to the UK if he is to move.

Banned by English FA

This season he has played 27 LaLiga games and provided six assists. He was suspended by the English FA for betting offences so he missed the games against Getafe, Alavés, Eibar, Valencia, Cádiz, Celta, Granada, the two against Levante, and Villarreal.

His absence was a big problem for manager Simeone. El Cholo had to look for alternatives. He played Vrsaljko, Marcos Llorente and even Correa had to play some minutes at right-back. The defender's release clause is €60 million.

Approaching final year at Atlético

The former Tottenham player is approaching the final 12 months of a three-year deal, meaning it could be Atletico’s last chance to secure a transfer fee for him.
