Wizards wrap up 8th seed in East, thumping Pacers

One more spot up for grabs in the Eastern Conference. The Indiana Pacers travel to DC to battle the Wizards the winner will be the 8 seed in the Playoffs

The Washington Wizards are moving on to the first round of the NBA Playoffs after a convincing 142-115 win over the Indiana Pacers. Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook led the home side to the blowout victory at the Capital One Arena.

The Eastern Conference Playoff bracket is set after the Wizards win tonight. They will take on the top seeded Philadelphia 76ers.

Wizards pulled away in the second quarter

The Pacers hung tight for a quarter, but a 16-0 to start the second quarter propelled the Wizards to a comfortable victory in the knockout game. Washington went to half with a 14 point lead, and the Pacers weren’t able to close the gap in the second half. A season high 48 point quarter coming out of the halftime broke the game open as the Wizards cruised into the playoffs.

Beal and Westbrook lead the way

After a dismal shooting performance against the Celtics last game, Bradley Beal and Russell Westbrook got back on track as the pair combined for 43 points in the winning effort. Westbrook flirted with a first half triple double dropping 15 points, eight rebound, and nine assists. He finished with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 14 assists.

76ers await the Wizards in the first round

Beal seemed to be a bit bothered by his sore hamstring during the first half. After a quick scare, he showed no signs of that holding him back as he dropped 25. The leagues second leading scorer sat the fourth quarter after the Wizards piled up a large lead going into the final 12 minutes.

The Wizards will now travel to Philadelphia to play the No. 1 seed in the East. Philly has won each of the three games against Washington this year, but this will be the first time these two team meet in the playoffs since 1986.

Can Russell Westbrook step up tonight after a slow first round Play-In game on Tuesday?

Hello everyone and welcome to the Capitol One Arena where AS English will have all the live coverage, stats and updates of tonights one off Play-In Game that will determine the 8th seed in the East. The Indiana Pacers travel to DC to take on the Wizards for the right to play the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round of the playoffs.

Pacers roll to victory in Play-In opener

The Pacers come into tonight on the heels of a thumping win over the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night. Indiana went for plus 40 in the first quarter in route to a thirty point victory to earn themselves a spot in tonights final Play-In game in the East.

Doug McDermott was the star in the first quarter with 16 points out of the gate, and then Oshea Brissett and Domantas Sabonis took over late in the game. Brissett paced Indiana with 23 points, while Sabonis was an assist shy of a triple double before sitting out the fourth quarter.

Beal and Westbrook shut down against the Celtics

The Wizards never seemed to find their rhythm in the Play-In opener against the Celtics. Russell Westbrook had a nightmare evening from the field. While both went for 20+, they combined to shoot just 16-43 from the field. Their two stars inability to score combined with Jayson Tatum posting 50 points was too much for Washington to overcome.

Fourth and final matchup of the season

Tonight will mark the fourth time these two teams have played, with the Wizards having won the first three including a 133-132 overtime thriller a week and a half ago. Beal was the hero in that game, posting 50 points, and Westbrook followed up with 33.

The winner of tonight’s game with wrap up the eighth and final seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
