Agüero to accept more than 50% salary cut to join Barça
Spanish television network Cuatro that the Argentine striker will accept a significant drop in wages to facilitate the move to the Catalan capital.
Kun Agüero is set to pull on the famous claret and navy FC Barcelona shirt at Camp Nou next season and could line up alongside compatriot Messi, assuming that the Rosario born player elects to stay put. Agüero arrives as a free agent and is prepared to take a major hit on his pay-packet to joining Barça.
Deportes Cuatro claim that Agüero will earn five million euro per season and this level of salary puts him behind the likes of Serginho Dest in the salary ranking at the club with the US international earning six million euro per campaign.
Salary drop
The current Manchester City striker's last deal with the Premier League side saw the Quilmes born player pocket 12 million euro per season with his new deal set to see a 58% wage reduction. The 2020/21 campaign was complicated for 'El Kun' with injury playing havoc on any consistent progression and the striker has only played in 682 minutes of football all season.
Agüero still has the chance to pick-up a Champions League winners medal when City face Chelsea next week in an all English affair in Porto. The Argentine will leave Manchester a hero with City fans never forgetting Agüero's last minute goal against Queens Park Rangers which saw the light blue side of Manchester win their first domestic league in the Premier era.
