Lionel Messi's 2020/21 season is over. He has had another brilliant campaign on a personal level, winning the Pichichi trophy, after scoring 30 league goals. For Barcelona, however, it has been a disappointing season, with the Copa del Rey the only piece of silverware added to the club's trophy cabinet. The big disappointments were in the Champions League and LaLiga, where the team fell out of the title race with poor performances and surprising results of late.

Messi misses Barcelona training

Messi was not present at Friday's morning session. The club gave him permission to begin his holidays with Barcelona fans on tenterhooks. The Argentine is expected to have a meeting with Joan Laporta, where the club president will present a new offer to the best player in the club's history. Whether or not Messi will take up the club's offer and continue at Camp Nou is the question on everyone's lips.

Pedri on holidays

Pedri will also miss the trip to Eibar. He has been on holiday since Monday with Koeman's permission, and Clement Lenglet is suspended for the last game of the season.

Koeman has two players back for the final game on 2020/21. Frenkie de Jong, who was suspended against Celta Vigo and Óscar Mingueza, who played for Barcelona B in the play-off for promotion to the second division against UCAM Murcia, agame that the reserve side lost on penalties.

Koeman's future in doubt

It remains to be seen whether today's session will be Koeman's last as coach. In any case, he has one more year on left his contract and his severance package is expected to be complicated, with talk of a fee of around €8 million.
