How many Champions League finals have Manchester City and Chelsea played?
A look at how the two teams in Saturday's all-Premier League Champions League final have fared in Europe's elite club competition in past years.
On 29 May, the Estádio do Dragão in Porto will stage the first European meeting after half a century between the two famous English Premier League sides, Manchester City and Chelsea. The last time they played in European competition was in the 1970/71 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup semi-finals. Chelsea won 1-0 in both legs and went on to win the trophy, beating Real Madrid in the final.
Third straight Champions League final with newcomer to showpiece occasion
It will be Manchester City's first UEFA Champions League final that pits them against domestic rivals Chelsea, who are in the decider for the third time and looking to add to their 2012 triumph. There have been seven previous UEFA Champions League finals between clubs from the same country, all since 2000.
City are the ninth English club to appear in a European Cup final, more than any other country. They are also the 42nd club to reach the European Cup final and the third newcomer in successive seasons after Tottenham in 2019 and Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.
City's best previous performance in the Champions League had come in the 2015/16 edition, when they lost in the semi-finals to that year's eventual champions Real Madrid, going down 1-0 on aggregate.

The game on Saturday will be Chelsea's third UEFA Champions League final, with both previous matches decided by penalties: a loss against Manchester United in 2008 and a win against Bayern at the 2012 final.
In addition to their two UEFA Champions League appearances, Chelsea were also victorious in the Cup Winners' Cup finals in 1971 and 1998 against Stuttgart and the UEFA Europa League finals in 2013 against Benfica and 2019 against Arsenal. They also won the UEFA Super Cup in 1998.
Saturday's final will be the clubs' fourth clash of the season, with Chelsea having won two of the previous three, including a 2-1 victory at Manchester on the 8th of May.
