Watford keen on signing Daryl Dike this summer
The United States men’s international team striker has several offers from English sides ahead of the start of the 2021/22 Premier League season.
On Wednesday, Daryl Dike made his debut with the United States men’s national team and he scored in the 4-0 victory against Costa Rica in the last warm-up game prior to the start of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July. The 20-year-old striker will now return to Orlando City after his loan spell ended with Barnsley last month.
Premier League clubs eying Dike
Dike had a breakout season during these few months at the Championship with the Tykes. The American forward scored nine goals in 19 league appearances, but since Barnsley failed to gain promotion to the Premier League the bosses decided not to make his move permanent.
Dike’s performances with the Tykes raised the interest of several clubs in the Premier League, but Orlando City has put a $20 million price tag on him. According to multiple reports, Chelsea and Everton have shown interest in the 20-year-old, but have made no formal offer for him.
Now The Athletic has reported that Watford is also interested in signing Dike ahead of the 2021/22 Premier League season. The Hornets have agreed to sell their striker Stipe Perica to the Tykes, so they see in Dike a good fit to replace him for the upcoming campaign.
