SIxers were in control through three quarters

Philadelphia spent the majority of the first three quarter in front, after an early 20-4 run gave the Sixers a big first quarter lead. The Hawks were getting great looks on the inside but failed to convert a handful of high percentage shots which Embiid and company weren’t willing to forgive.

Trey Young spent the first quarter and a half silenced by Defensive First Team selection Ben Simmons. Young had his shoulder taped, and spent stints on the bench with heavy wrapping on his shooting arm.

Embiid's knee a cause for concern for Philly

Atlanta shot just 33% from the field in the first two quarters, and allowed the 76ers to stretch out to an 18 point lead.

John Collins the highlight reel game changer

Joel Embiid came back in the second quarter and looked good, but the halftime break looked to have allowed him to tense up, and he went scoreless from the field in the second half. The Sixers were still in control of the game and up by ten mid way through the third quarter until John Collins brought Atlanta back to life with a vicious tip slam.

Momentum shifted in an instant, and the Hawks clawed their way back into the ball game, taking the lead in the opening possession of the fourth quarter. There were three ties and six lead changes in the final quarter. Embiid had a chance to take the lead with under 10 seconds to go, but missed a lay up attempt in traffic to hand the game to the Hawks.

Young carries Atlanta to 2-2 series tie

Trae Young scored a team high 25 points, followed by Bogdan Bogdanovic who had 22. The hero of the night was John Collins and his 14 points. A big slam to inject some life in the Atlanta arena, and then two tip slams in the third quarter tilted the balance of Game 4 in favor of the home side.

Tobias Harris led the Sixers with 20 points, his seventh 20 point game in a row. Seth Curry had 17, as did Joel Embiid who did not look himself in the final two quarter.

The status of Embiid’s knee will be the focus as the series in on it’s way back to Philly. Game 5 is set for Wednesday night at 7:30 ET/ 4:30 PT.
