Trinidad and Tobago are doing a good job on defense, but the highlight of the first half is the serious injury of Hirving Lozano. The Napoli playmaker suffered a neck injury, a possible concussion and a cut on his eyebrow after an accidental collision with the goalkeeper from the Soca Warriors in the 10th minute of the game.

Martino was waiting for Rogelio Funes Mori to receive his Mexican citizenship so he would be eligible to play for the national team in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. The striker from Monterrey received his papers last month and he was included in the final roster for the tournament that starts on 10 July. Most likely Funes Mori will start tonight against Trinidad and Tobago.

On Friday it was reported that Curaçao had a high number of positive cases of coronavirus and CONCACAF decided to drop them from the tournament because they couldn’t reschedule their upcoming games. So their place will be taken by the Guatemala national team who now are traveling to Frisco, Texas.

Everything is set for the start of the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup on 10 July that will be hosted by the United States. There were only three tickets left to advance to the group stage of the tournament and six teams were looking to win their respective games to secure a spot. Mexico, the USMNT and Costa Rica were the last teams to find the identity of their respective rivals for matchday 1.
