NFL Game Pass 2021: price, how to watch games

Ahead of the 2021 National Football League season, we bring you the lowdown on NFL Game Pass, the NFL's online on-demand streaming service.

NFL Game Pass, the NFL's on-demand online streaming service, offers football fans in the United States plenty of action for their money, but, except in preseason, it doesn’t provide live broadcasts.

NFL news:

$99/season for NFL game replays, live audio and extra content

For a price of $99 per season, Game Pass subscribers based in the US can use the platform to watch unlimited commercial-free replays of NFL regular season and postseason games as soon as they’re finished. Viewers will have the option of watching full or condensed replays.

How to watch replays on NFL Game Pass:

To access replays of NFL fixtures, Game Pass users should select 'GAMES' from the menu inside their account, before choosing the week and then the game.

To access replays of NFL fixtures, Game Pass users should:

Preseason games live - with exceptions

NFL Game Pass does include live streams of preseason games, but this comes with some blackout restrictions. Viewers can only use Game Pass for games that are not nationally broadcast (by Fox, ESPN, NBC or CBS) and cannot watch ‘in-market’ games on the service, either.

‘In-market’ refers to games involving a viewer’s local team that are being broadcast on television in their area. "For instance, if you live in Kansas City you can't watch a Chief's game live because it would be 'in market' for you," the NFL says.

Although NFL Game Pass does not offer US-based customers live video of regular season and postseason fixtures, it does include live audio of all games.

It should also be noted that subscribers to NFL Game Pass outside the US (except in Canada and China) can watch regular season and postseason games live, although some blackout restrictions apply in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

What else does NFL Game Pass include?

NFL Game Pass also offers access to the NFL Films Library, as well as allowing viewers to watch NFL Network shows such as Good Morning Football and Fantasy Live on demand. (You’ll find a full list of the content available in the NFL Films Library and on the NFL Network here.)

NFL Game Pass: free trial

Before committing to spending $99 on NFL Game Pass, you can try it out by signing up for a free, seven-day trial. However, trial subscribers don’t get the complete package, as they have to wait 72 hours for replays of Thursday Night Football regular-season games, rather than getting them right away.

2021 NFL season a month away

Ahead of the start of the 2021 NFL season, the preseason period kicked off on 5 August with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio, where the Pittsburgh Steelers earned a 16-3 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

A month remains for the 32 NFL franchises to get themselves ready for the regular season, which is due to get underway on 9 September and will last until 9 January.
