Chicago Bulls: Real Valladolid sign Scottie Pippen's nephew
Kavion Pippen had a brief spell in the NBA at the Golden State Warriors and now the nephew of Chicago Bulls legend Scottie has arrived at Valladolid.
Real Valladolid have signed the nephew of former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen, 24-year-old center Kavion Pippen, who has played in Tunisia and Qatar after a brief spell with the Golden State Warriors in the NBA.
Pippen was undrafted in the 2019 NBA draft and subsequently signed for the Warriors, who waived him after four games in which he failed to convince Steve Nash. Pippen then moved to the Austin Spurs but the coronavirus pandemic halted his progress in the NBA G League.
Valladolid bank on another historic NBA name
Pippen will continue a long tradirtion of Real Valladolid signing players with famous surnames. The Spanish LEB Oro outfit have previously acquired Antoine Mason, son of NBA All-Star Anthony Mason, and Derrik Smits, son of 1988 second overall draft pick and Indiana Pacers stalwart Rik Smits.
Real Valladolid also made headlines in 2013 when they snapped up Patrick Ewing Jr., son of 2009 US Dream Team member, New York Knicks legend and 11-time All-Star Patrick Ewing.
