Has Jake Paul retired from boxing?
A cryptic tweet by YouTuber Jake Paul listing his status as “Retired boxer” might indicate that the influencer’s short-lived boxing career is over.
Shortly after Paul’s professional win by split decision over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, he tweeted what seems like an announcement of his retirement from the ring.
His four-word tweet simply said, “Updated status: Retired boxer”. It’s difficult to tell if the tweet is a joke, a description of a temporary state as a boxer, or an actual declaration that he was leaving the sport.

Jake Paul begins boxing
He first got exposure as an amateur on the ring fighting against a fellow YouTuber as part of his brother Logan’s undercard. The interest generated by the match then led to professional fights.
Paul has a 4-0 record so far in his brief career as a pro boxer. The first bout was against fellow YouTuber AnEson Gib, the second against former NBA player Nate Robinson, and the third was against MMA fighter Ben Askren.
He won all three in a matter of minutes, and his match with Woodley was the only one that went the distance.
Despite Paul’s lack of fight experience, his fights have become big pay-per-view attractions.

Paul hints at rematch, taking a break
Paul did seem open to having a fifth professional fight after defeating Woodey, hinting that if the former MMA champion got the tattoo saying “I love Jake Paul”, there would be a rematch.
The condition involving the tattoo was agreed upon even before their fight on Sunday.
Paul had also alluded to taking some time off for himself to figure things out after his fight with Woodley, and that he would go back to the gym when he was ready.
If his tweet does tell the truth of his retirement, Paul comes away with an unblemished boxing record, and, judging from the interest his fights have generated, establishes even further his status as a social media sensation.
