Jules Koundé: Sevilla's enigmatic defender

The Sevilla defender is going through a rough time after his proposed move to Chelsea didn't materialise and being sent off in France's game against Bosnia.

Sevilla centre-back Jules Koundé has broken his silence just a few days after his proposed move to Chelsea failed to go through. The 22-year-old, who is on duty with the France squad, published a tweet with an enigmatic message: "You know the price of everything but the value of nothing" along with the hashtag #CLB (which stands for Certified Lover Boy - the title of rap artist Drake's new album). The phrase, written in English, had many followers scratching their heads and wondering what Koundé meant. After seeing all of the comments and reaction his tweet had caused, Koundé was straight back on his social media account to clear things up. In a follow-up tweet, he wrote: "Chill !! it’s just lyrics, really not that deep" complete with laughter and yawning emojis.

Transfer rumours

The French player has been in the news during the past few days. He was left out of the squad list for Sevilla's most recent league game against Elche which fuelled rumours that he could leave the club before the transfer deadline. After that, he joined up with the France squad for this month's Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers but in the first of those games, against Bosnia-Herzegovina, he was sent off for a nasty tackle on Kolasinac.

His Sevilla team mates Ivan Rakitic and Diego Carlos came to his defence and sent messages of encouragement - the Brazilian central defender saying that Koundé "is only thinking about Sevilla" and added that he is "a little more relaxed now".
