Chelsea boss Thomas Thuchel will look to record his fourth straight win over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City when the two sides meet at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

While manager of Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, Tuchel failed to win any of his five first meetings against Guardiola in Germany when the latter was coach of Bayern Munich. But since joining Chelsea in January, the German coach has won all three of his games against his Spanish counterpart, beating City in the FA Cup in April before victories in the Premier League and the Champions League in May.

Judging on current form, Chelsea are well placed to achieve a fourth straight win over City, who have already lost one early game to big-six opposition this season (1-0, Spurs) and come into this match after a limp 0-0 draw at home against Southampton last weekend.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have five wins and one draw from six games and are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table. Whether they will still be there after lunchtime in England on Saturday will depend on how things go against Pep’s side, as well as in the day’s other early kick off as Manchester United (in third place but level on points with Chelsea) host Aston Villa.

Tuchel could be without goalkeeper Eduard Mendy, who has missed Chelsea's last two matches due to a knock he picked up against Zenit St Petersburg in the Champions League opener last week. US striker Christian Pulisic, who also missed Wednesday’s clash with Villa in the EFL Cup, is a minor doubt due to an ankle issue.

Pep Guardiola will definitely be without Benjamin Meny, who has been suspended by City pending an investigation into sexual asault allegations, while Ilkay Gundogan and John Stones are major doubts for the clash at Stamford Bridge. Minor doubts hang over Aymeric Laporte, Rodri and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Interestingly, none of the last 12 Premier League meetings between Chelsea and City have ended in a draw, with Chelsea winning five games to City’s seven.
