All you need to know about how to watch Real Madrid play Sheriff Tiraspol on match-day 2 of the 2021/22 Champions League group stage at the Santiago Benabeu on Tuesday 28, September.

Real Madrid will be hoping to make win their second game on the trot in Group D when they continue their 2021-22 UEFA Champions league campaign against Sheriff Tiraspol on Tuesday night at home.

Real Madrid on the rise

Los Blancos come into the game having bested Inter Milan in a 1-0 victory in their group stage opener. Sheriff meanwhile, navigated a tricky fixture against Shaktar Donetsk to record a 2-0 victory, placing them atop the group.

Present Form: Real Madrid

Real Madrid have made an impressive start to the 2021-22 season, taking 17 points from their from a possible 21 across seven La Liga matches. They currently lead the table. Carlo Ancelotti's most recently were held to a goalless draw by Villarreal in La Liga on Saturday, however, they will feel confident ahead of their Tuesday night fixture, knowing that a victory will put them in a prime position to reach the knock out stage of the Champions League.

The 'Merengues' will be keen to go a step further than they did last season, when they went out at the semi-final stage to eventual champions Chelsea FC. Though they have actually only won five of their last 12 European matches, it would undoubtedly be one of the biggest shocks in recent memory were they to fall to Champions League debutantes Sheriff.

Present Form: Sheriff Tiraspol

Sheriff, who claimed a sixth successive Moldovan league title last season, enter the group stage of the Champions League for the first time in their history. That being said, they have most definitely not been overawed by the occasion having bested Shaktar Donetsk in a 2-0 victory in their opening game. The Wasps actually started their 2021-22 Champions League campaign at the start of August having been one of the teams which had to qualify for the group stage. Along the way they had to get past Teuta Durres, Alashkert, Red Star Belgrade and Dinamo Zagreb in order to book their spot.

For more the world of football

Sheriff will face Real Madrid having won four of their last eight away European fixtures, suffering just one defeat in the process. It could be said that they are a team who are accustomed to winning. Most recently they posted an impressive 7-0 win over Dinamo-Auto on Saturday, suggesting that confidence will be high as they head to the Bernabeu. Regarding form the team from Moldova has also made a strong start to their own domestic campaign, currently sitting third in the table on 19 points after eight league matches with three games in hand over leaders Milsami.

Team News

Once again Los Blancos will be unable to count on Ferland Mendy, Dani Ceballos, Dani Carvajal and Gareth Bale all of whom are still sidelined through injury. Toni Kroos and Marcelo could - in theory - play on Tuesday night, however, it would come as a surprise if either were in the starting line up as they have both struggled with injuries recently. There is also the possibility of the inclusion of Lucas Vazquez and Eden Hazard as Ancelotti will look to tinker with a side that suffered a goalless draw against Villareal last weekend.

Last but not least there is the question of newboy Eduardo Camavinga who has made an impressive start to life in Madrid. Will he be given the start ahead of Marco Asensio, time will tell. Sheriff on the other hand have very little to worry about where injuries are concerned. The exception is of course Lovro Bizjak who will be unavailable due to a foot problem. Aside from this the champions from Moldova will be able to rely on a full squad as they head to the Bernabeu. It is quite likely that head coach Vernydub will rely on the same starting XI which faced Shaktar Donetsk earlier this month.

Real Madrid possible starting lineup:

Courtois; Vazquez, Militao, Alaba, Nacho; Camavinga, Casemiro, Modric; Hazard, Benzema, Vinicius

Sheriff Tiraspol possible starting lineup:

Athanasiadis; Costanza, Arboleda, Dulanto, Cristiano; Kolovos, Addo, Thill; Traore, Yaxshiboyev, Castaneda
